1. This is different from the single text method described by Fisher and Ury in their book Getting to Yes, whereby a complete agreement is drafted by the mediator and provided to each side. The parties then provide their proposed revisions to the text, which the mediator, working offline, integrates into the next draft. The mediator repeats the revision process until final agreement is reached.

In the process referred to above, the negotiators, with assistance from the mediator, repeatedly refine the draft together; they jointly wordsmith the document during plenary negotiating sessions.
